Faulty Analogy

....The book A platypus walked into a bar argues that there is no reason why the Universe resembles a watch anymore than it does a baby kangaroo, which is created by two other kangaroos having sex, and that the same question can be asked of any god. And a watch is manufactured out of other materials, while the case with the Universe is unclear.

I can't find that particular book anywhere but I can find Plato and a Platypus Walk Into a Bar. This book is also available on Amazon. So I can't prove that this is the book the quote is taken from but I like the quote all the same.

It makes a solid point: Watches are of a different "stuff" than natural phenomenon such as universes and kangaroos. To use the watchmaker analogy to prove the existence of a supernatural deity is to stretch it beyond the breaking point. To make a watch, manufacturers use "stuff" found in the universe. To make a kangaroo, two adult kangaroos have to have sex. To make a universe, stuff from outside the universe is probably used initially though we don't know at this point.

Not knowing does NOT of necessity admit the existence of the Judeo-Christian God.
