Obviously, that title is based on the Bible verse about "science falsely so called":
1 Tim. 6:20, KJV: O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called
I will provide an example of what really is "science falsely so called." It is a conversation found
here regarding Richard Dawkins's book
The God Delusion. The two speakers in this part of the conversation are a Christian named MotK and an atheist (former Christian) named Ocam's Laser. Ocam replies to MotK:
Ocam's Laser wrote:
MotK wrote:
I have seen many attempts [of science] to categorically refuse to accept conclusions that go against preconceived notions.
That's called "dogma", and it's part and parcel of religious theology. Deal with it. Science, on the other hand, is self-correcting and regulated by peer review and skeptical challenges. Whatever works is accepted; whatever doesn't work is rejected.

Obviously, what MotK is calling science is not science--it may be "science falsely so called." For a further example of such pseudo-science, see
this discussion on evolution on Theology Web (esp.
Post 1, which is very false science, and
Post 8, which corrects many of the errors of Post 1. What Richard Dawkins presents in his book is true science. What Ocam, and others in this conversation, present is also true science.
The difference between true science and false science are many. True science is based on the scientific method, which is cause and effect applied according to the laws of nature and logic and honesty. It is self-correcting and self-policing. Pseudo-science normally is subjected to a sacred text, such as the Bible in Christianity and the Koran in Islam.
