Posting can be a challenge on these forums because all we've got is basic software. I'll post guidelines on how to use the various functions. There is a tool bar but I find it easier to type all the codes into the text. I will post the guidelines in two steps:
1. First I will type the formula or code with a space between characters.
2. Then I will show how it will appear after you have submitted it.
NOTE: When you type the code, DO NOT LEAVE SPACES.
If you have questions feel free to ask. Also, you can click on the "quote" button in the top right-hand corner of a post to see the code. This way you can see how a certain function was typed.

Various Types of Quotes
Quoting a Post Click on the word "quote" in the upper-right-hand corner of the post you want to quote. If you want to quote only part of the post, highlight and delete the part you don't want to post.
To make a quote box, type: [ q u o t e ]copy your quote[ / q u o t e ]
It will appear like this:
Quote:
copy your quote
Quote With a NameType: [ q u o t e = " R S M " ]RSM's post[ / q u o t e ]
This will appear as

Format and Letters
Use of Italics [added July 17, 2008]
Please avoid lengthy passages (more than one or two lines) of text in italics.
This is italics. Italics should be reserved for:
- emphasis
- titles of books
- individual words or phrases if they are the object of discussion, as in: The words their and there are homonyms.
- heading and subheadings within an article or post
- brief introductions or by-lines that do not really belong to the main body of the text.
- and similar extraneous information
Center with Bold Lettering[ a l i g n = c e n t e r ][ b ]Title of Article[ / b ][ / a l i g n ]
This will appear as:
Title of Article
.................................................
You can substitute any other letter type instead of bold.
Letter Types- B= [ b ]B[ / b ]
- I= [ i ]I[ / i ]
- U= [ u ]u[ / u ]
- [s]A[/s]= [ s ]A[ / s ]
ListsType: [ l i s t ][ * ]your list
[ * ]of things
[ * ]that you want
[ * ]to show[ / l i s t ]
This will appear as
- your list
- of things
- that you want
- to show
For a
numbered list, omit the asterisks and square brackets, and type in the numbers. If you want the numbers to be bolded you have to type in the code the same as for letters.
If anyone knows how to make an automatic numbered list with this tool bar, please post the instructions on this thread. So far, I have been unable to figure it out.
Indented TextSometimes it is more appropriate to indent subtext rather than to use a quote box. I will use the following paragraph as an example:
Type: [ l i s t ]You can also see how to do a function by passing your mouse over the icon on the tool bar and watching for the instructions that appear in the text immediately below.[ / l i s t ]
This will appear as:
You can also see how to do a function by passing your mouse over the icon on the tool bar and watching for the instructions that appear in the text immediately below.
Note that it differs from the bulleted list only in that the square brackets and asterisks were omitted when typing.
