Tyson says not to worry about Dec. 21, 2012. It's Friday April 13, 2029 and Friday April 13, 2036 that are worrisome.

These videos regard the asteroid discovered in Dec. 2004--an asteroid that may collide with the earth in 2029 and/or 2036. Scientists believe that it was a similar collision with the earth that destroyed the dinosaurs.

Tyson shows how scientists may put some kind of spaceship in orbit beside the asteroid to prevent it from colliding with earth. As I watch the video, I get a distinct impression that this truly is scientists playing God. I wonder what the fundamentalist religionists of our planet will have to say.

Obviously, if "God" intended for the asteroid to hit our planet and kill earth's inhabitants, the religionists were supposed to die right along with the atheists. Yet the atheist scientists are (hopefully) preventing the destruction--and death by asteroid--of everyone.

How, exactly, will this fit logically into the science-religion debate for monotheists such as Christians and Muslims?
