I can't really listen to videos with the slow connection (only with a great deal of hassle) I have at this point but I generally agree with you on these issues. I find it hard to comprehend this need to bring God into every thought and conversation about one's country. Maybe I've posted this before. When I was about 14 I had a pen-pal in Pennsylvania. I remember feeling really sorry for her for not being Canadian and that she could not sing our wonderful national anthem. I was sure her country was nowhere near as great as ours and that there was nothing to be proud of in being American because I didn't know of a single thing. But being Canadian--now THAT was an altogether different story.

As for God loving America best--if that means just the United States part, I'm not sure why he would because it's not even the biggest chunk of land. If he's looking in from space he probably sees--umm, what is the largest country land-mass-wise these days? It used to be the USSR...According to my wall map I think it's Russia...Yep, wikipedia says Russia is largest in the Eastern Hemisphere and Canada is largest in Western Hemisphere (which is one BIG reason to be proud of it). World-wide, Russia is largest, Canada is second, China and the United States are disputed for third and fourth places, and Brazil is fifth.

Military power-wise? United States of America is top dog.

Money-wise? Me don't understand numbers. I'm not buying anything from the States at the moment but I looked up the price of God Delusion on Amazon.com (American I think) and Amazon.ca (the Canadian branch). I also looked on the price listed on the back cover of the copy I bought a few weeks ago from Amazon. There is a Canadian and American price listed.

The price I paid (according to the receipt) is less than that listed on the cover and the same as listed on Amazon.ca at the moment. Now I looked it up in a batch of countries, too. Here are the prices listed according to their countries as best I can figure it out:

I can't read half those languages and I don't understand half those currencies. So I don't know who is biggest and best and all that.

If I know my history all those countries except Canada had a turn at being the world's superpower. But maybe I don't know my history...I'm quite sure, though, that all of us no matter which country we live in grew up knowing intuitively that we lived in the best possible country just because it was the best country to be born into just because. I think this is one of the things we're born knowing. Just my guess.
