At first blush, Christians will probably view Evolution of Christianity - Defense Mechanisms as a jab at their God and religion. However, if they can step back and view it objectively, possibly they can see the analysis for what it is and discuss it constructively.

The so-called defense mechanisms are items of faith that have caused me serious questions all my life. These questions need answers if honest deep thinking humans are supposed to accept Christianity as a factually accurate description of life and the universe. People who value honesty and truth on a par with life itself have been forced to deconvert because Christianity has failed to answer these questions.

In other words, if Christianity is supposed to be important, then the issues raised in this video must be addressed by Christians themselves and the questions must be answered. If Christians fail to answer these questions in a satisfactory and meaningful manner for atheists, then we will know that Christianity is not all that important. A God who knows everything, and who can also do everything, is able to answer these questions adequately. He will also do it.

I know this because the Bible says God will allow himself to be found of everyone who earnestly seeks him, and that he answers the prayers of those who earnestly pray. No one has sought or prayed more earnestly than have I or many other former Christians. So far, God has neither allowed himself to be found nor answered prayer.

Thus, we conclude that Christianity is an inaccurate description of life and the universe. However, we may be missing something. It is up to Christianity to provide the evidence. But it had better be very good. If it is not good enough to convince the atheist, then God is not who he is made out to be, i.e. all-knowing and all-powerful.
